The 7-Step
Creative
Process
Every project begins with an idea—sometimes clear, sometimes still taking shape. Whether it’s for an event, a training, or a message you want to visualize, I help turn your thoughts into engaging, meaningful visuals—step by step.
1
-
This is where it all begins. You share your ideas—even if they’re still fuzzy—and explain what you’re hoping to achieve. Whether by video call, phone, or email, we’ll clarify:
The type of project (live illustration, custom visuals, infographics, etc.)
The context (event, training session, internal or external communication)
The goal (to inform, explain, summarize, or engage)
The format (print, digital, web)
Your audience and any constraints
The aim is to fully understand your needs so I can propose the best creative solution.
2
-
Based on our conversation, I’ll send over a clear, tailored proposal outlining:
The scope of work and format(s)
A suggested timeline
The deliverables
Pricing
Once approved, we’re ready to get started!
3
-
Here’s where we lay the groundwork. You send me your content (slides, text, visuals, videos—whatever you’ve got), and together we:
Identify the key elements to include
Define the tone, visual style, and brand guidelines
This step sets a solid visual foundation to build from.
4
-
For illustration projects, I’ll create a preliminary sketch or layout that gives you a clear idea of the overall composition and key content. You’ll validate this before we move on to final artwork. For live sketchnoting, this step may include:
Creating a visual structure or template
Gathering background info on the event (agenda, theme, etc.)
Identifying the main messages to capture on the day
This is the moment to adjust things before the real drawing begins.
5
-
Now the visuals come to life:
Live sketchnoting / graphic facilitation: I draw in real time at your event—either in-person, online, or based on a recording.
Custom illustrations / infographics / maps: I work in-studio from your content, with care and precision.
Depending on the project, we may schedule check-ins to ensure everything’s on track.
6
-
This is the moment to adjust things before the real drawing begins. Once the visuals are complete, I polish and deliver them in the formats you need:
High-resolution files for print
Web-optimized formats for digital use
Adaptations or variations upon request
You’ll receive visuals that are ready to use and rich with meaning.
7
-
Once your visuals are delivered, I’m still here if you need a hand—whether it’s…
guidance on how to share them
adapting them for a new format
or imagining what’s next
Small tweaks are always possible, and if you need bigger changes down the line, I’ll be happy to provide a quote.
FAQ
-
There’s no one-size-fits-all here—prices vary depending on the project type, level of detail, turnaround time, and usage. I’ll always send you a clear, personalized quote so you know exactly what to expect. Just drop me a message and we can talk it over!
-
No pressure—you don’t need to have everything figured out. We’ll start by chatting about your message, who it’s for, and what you want to get across. From there, I’ll help you choose the best format: a visual map that tells a story, a summary that clarifies, an illustration that explains, or a live sketch that captures the moment.
Every idea has its own visual voice—my job is to help you find yours. -
Once the project’s complete, you’ll get visuals that are ready to use across all your channels—print, web, social media, and more. I make sure every file is clean, clear, and optimized for your needs.
-
Definitely. Most of my work is done remotely, and it runs smoothly thanks to email, video calls, and a solid process. No matter where you're based, we can make it work without a hitch.
-
It depends on the scope and complexity of your project. Some visuals take just a few days, others may need a few weeks. We’ll talk it through and agree on a timeline that works for you.
